AWARD FARNESINA BIBLIOTECA EUROPEA

4th edition

    In order to promote the European cultural heritage and to encourage an increased and more qualified editorial offer of Italian literature, the Associazione Biblioteca Europea awards for the year 2005 several prizes consisting in a contribution to the translation of various works (prose, poetry and essays).

    These contributions will totally or partly cover the expenses for the translation of some Italian works into European languages and of a foreign work into Italian. The projects, along with all the informations useful to the judgement (cost of the translation, possible foreword, expected date of publication, number of printed copies, translator’s curriculum etc) can be submitted by publishers and translators. The translators will have to enclose to their application a letter of commitment written by the publisher interested in the possible publication. The applications must be sent by the 28th of February 2005 to Associazione Biblioteca Europea, via P. Tacchini 19 00197 Roma / e-mail: biblioteca.europea@libero.it.

    The prizes will be awarded after the publication of the volume. The Italian works translated into a foreign language will be presented in the Italian Cultural Institutes or in other institutes of the countries involved.

The jury is formed by Flavia Arzeni, Piero Bianucci, Paola Dècina Lombardi, Maria Ida Gaeta, Sergio Givone, Nico Orengo, Giovanni Sabbatucci, Serena Vitale.

    The Award Farnesina Biblioteca Europea is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Administrative Department of Cultural Relations, and by the Ministry of Cultural Assets and Activities – Office for the Promotion of the Book. It is realized in cooperation with La Casa delle Letterature of the Commune of Rome and with the sponsorship of Martini.
